You think Hummus and the first thoughts that come to mind is a delicious and healthy snack. So how do you make it even better?

By saving yourself the cash and making that delicious homemade hummus yourself, of course. Not only is this silky-smooth treat incredibly easy to make at home, but the process of homemade also makes it that much tastier. Plus, the flavors are only limited to your imagination.

So, let’s get to it!

Ingredients

16 oz Chickpeas
4 Garlic
2 tsp Lemon Juice
4 Tbl Olive Oil
1 tsp Savory Seekers Seasoning Salt

Homemade Hummus Method

  1. Open the chickpeas and pour them into a strainer, rinse them under cold water to remove the excess canning liquid. Shake off any extra water then set aside to drain for a couple minutes more.

  2. Add the rinsed and strained chickpeas to a robot coup followed by the garlic, lemon juice and seasoning salt ( Savory Seeker Seasoning Salt here ). Next attach the lid to the mixer and pulse the machine a few times, this will help break everything down. Next turn the mixer on low and slowly drizzle in the olive oil a little bit at a time.

Word to the wise: You want to add the olive oil slowly as if you add to much you cannot remove it.

  3. During the mixing you want to stop every so often to scrape down the sides of the bowl. Making sure you have everything incorporated.
When the mixture becomes smooth, stop the machine, and give your homemade hummus a little taste. This is the perfect time to find out if you need to add more salt, a touch of lemon or any extra flavoring you might enjoy, like fresh herbs or even chili flakes for those who love a little spice in their life.

  4. Once you are happy with the flavor of your homemade hummus, use a spatula and scrape all the tasty goodness into a container. Place the container in the fridge to cool off uncovered for about an hour or so. You want to leave it uncovered so that as it is cooling down the condensation doesn’t collect on the lid and fall back into your hummus.

  5. That’s it, it really is that easy to make!
Now all that’s left is to grab a bowl and your favorite edible delivery device, we love fresh veggies and baguettes, and dig in.

P.S. This is just a plain homemade hummus recipe, you can add in herbs, chili sauce, roasted tomatoes, red peppers or just about anything. The list goes on and on and is only limited by your imagination and your pallet.

Go wild with the flavors and let us know in the comments if you find a must try combo, as we are always down for new and exciting flavors to savor.
